STAMFORD BRIDGE - 1066 & ALL THAT

This is a relatively short walk which is packed with plenty of interest along the way - the River Derwent, flooding, the old railway line including walking across the viaduct, plus the Battle of Stamford Bridge site and a visit to the Battle of Stamford Bridge Tapestry Project in the old station .

There are toilets and cafe/pubs at the start and end of the walk.

Length of walk 3 miles/4.5km

Approximately 2 hours

Meet at 10am

Free parking at Viking Road Car Park next to the river - (if approaching from York turn immediately right after the bridge)

Buses from York and Pocklington (please check for further details)

A mixture of tarmac and off road paths, so prepare for mud if it has rained.

Cost - £10 per head (or half price with Tuesday walking Group subscription, see my Facebook page or website for more details). Cash preferred but bank transfer always available. I am currently looking into electronic payments using my phone.
